I got my first camera when I was 17, and that was that. Studying photography in school quickly led to a life-long love of storytelling from behind the lens. For me the perfect photo goes beyond aesthetic quality - although it took me several years to understand that technicality isn't everything. A great photo requires connection; building a relationship between the photographer and subject, between the subjects themselves, and between the photo and viewer. If an image evokes a memory or emotion then the job is likely done. It's not even always about the end result, but the joy and adrenaline we experience together in the process.

In addition to photographing nature, documentary and events, I've been working in the UK public and charity sector for 5 years as a communications specialist.
